Services

Our services are centred around intellectual property that can be registered. We protect innovation, design, and branding across all sectors of industry, and at all stages in the supply chain.

For each IP right we offer services covering strategic advice, pre-registration searches, registrations and renewals, oppositions and dispute resolution. We handle work throughout the world, working with local colleagues in over 100 countries.

Sectors

Our attorneys specialise in one or more sectors of industry, which enables them to provide quality advice with a commercial focus.

Our patent specialists have detailed understanding of the background technology, which ensures that your patent applications are prepared with the correct scope, reducing the likelihood of challenges from third parties and objections from the patent office.

They also advise whether other forms of protection would be more appropriate. Our brand specialists work with brand managers for leading brands and their advice is commercially focussed making sure that you get the best value from your budget.

International

We have an international network of attorneys we can call upon at any given time. Wherever you are based, you can regard us as the hub for your international portfolio.

We regularly handle IP rights in many more countries than the majority of UK firms, and some of our clients file in over 100 countries. With offices in London, Cambridge, Munich and The Hague, we also work with a worldwide network of independent associates. We ensure that we keep in touch with our international network and travel regularly to meet them, often at the major IP conferences.

We have no fixed affiliation with any these associates; when we look for local attorneys for our clients we look at the quality of their service, and not at the amount of business we expect them to send us in return. We generally know and work with several firms in any one territory and will match you with local attorneys depending on your local portfolio and needs.

Asia

We have strong connections with Asia. We visit China, Japan, Korea and India several times a year for major conferences and client meetings.

Nick Reeve is a fluent Japanese speaker and gives lectures on Japanese Patent Law at Queen Mary University.

United States of America

One third of our revenue comes from the US, and from US based clients or their US attorneys. Our clients include several S&P 500 Index corporations in electronics, consumer goods, chemicals and the automotive sector.

Our attorneys make an average of ten visits to the US per year, typically including several states in their trip. Conferences we attend regularly include INTA, IPO, AIPLA, and BIO.

Our specialism in the field of software patents is of particular relevance to those with an interest in the US, as we regularly advise clients on patent eligibility or patentability in this area.
