Alan Bates

Alan’s background is in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering and much of his current work involves aspects of materials science. Alan handles work in a wide range of subject areas. He has been involved with inventions ranging from better wasp traps and more user-friendly monitoring devices, to smaller combinatorial chemistry substrates and more efficient electrochemical processes.

Nick Reeve

Tom Sharman

Tom is a UK and European patent attorney and UK trade mark attorney, working in our engineering, materials and consumer products group. Helen Wakerley

Helen is responsible for the trade mark portfolios of many of our UK clients, and has particular experience in the automotive sector. Helen advises clients in patent, trade mark and design matters. With trade mark clients in many sectors, Helen’s experience ranges from clearing marks for use, through to preparing worldwide filing programmes and dealing with inter partes issues pre- and post-registration.

Georgina Ainscow

Georgina specialises in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the electronics and computing fields. Georgina works on patent cases in the fields of physics, engineering, electronics, software and business methods. She has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, and representing clients at hearings before the UK and European Patent Offices. As well as drafting and prosecution work, she advises on invention harvesting, international patent portfolio management and IP strategy.

Andrew Carridge

Andrew assists clients with drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications in the UK, Europe and around the world; and at opposition and appeal proceedings at the European Patent Office. He also advises on freedom to operate, patentability, due diligence, inventorship and assignment matters, assisting clients in obtaining supplementary protection certificates (SPC) and advising on strategies for maximising exclusivity for approved drugs, in Europe.

Dale Carter

Dale has extensive experience in trade mark management, trade mark prosecution and in the conduct of trade mark disputes. On numerous occasions Dale has acted as a Trade Mark Advocate, representing clients at trade mark hearings (first instance and on appeal) before the UK IPO and the UK Appointed Person.

Duncan Nevett

Gavin Dundas
