panel of experts and stakeholders from all sectors of the patent system discussing whether
the current IP system does enough to support innovators and entrepreneurs rising to the
challenges of the climate and biodiversity emergencies, and how the present system might do
more. This will be an online event involving a 1 hour panel discussion plus Q&A.

Andrew Sadler
Industrial Policy Team Leader at the UK IPO
Andrew Sadler is Head of Industrial Policy at the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) working to ensure the UK IP framework supports innovation in green technologies and support the UK government’s Net Zero policies. The IPO operate a Green Channel initiative, a service that allows applicants to request patent acceleration if the invention has an environmental benefit. The IPO are actively looking at further opportunities to promote the development and adoption of green technologies through the IP framework.
Anja von der Ropp
Senior Program Coordinator, Climate Change and Food Security, WIPO
Anja established and manages the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) GREEN market place for sustainable technology, launched in 2013 to help accelerate green innovation and diffusion of sustainable technologies. Anja has more than 20 years’ experience in intellectual property and innovation ecosystems in relation to global public policy issues such as climate change, food security and public health.
Samantha Wildman
Head of Business Development at Michael Price Associates
Michael Price Associates (MPA) aim to release, accelerate and sustain world-leading innovation delivered by forward-thinking UK businesses, and advise on matters like Accounting and Tax services, R&D Tax Relief, Patent Box Tax Relief, as well as Innovate UK Smart Grants. As Head Of Business Development, Samantha draws on almost a decade of experience advising senior business leaders across a variety of sectors and company sizes to help them achieve their goals and grow their business. Her experience in funding, as well as the High Tech sector enables her to really understand what business owners want to achieve, helping them to overcome key challenges and capitalise on opportunities.
Sam Williams
Head of Intellectual Property at Siemens PLC
Sam is a European and UK Patent Attorney, who has worked both in private practice and corporate patent departments. At Siemens PLC her responsibility is supporting UK based Siemens teams generating Intellectual property in the UK. Her previous experiences include working at BP on their solar energy business, and at 3M on their litigation and licensing programmes.
