Matt is a Chartered Patent Attorney working in the Advanced Engineering and Consumer Products & Manufacturing teams.
Matt advises SMEs and multinational companies on patent and registered design matters. Prior to entering the patent profession, Matt was a Nuclear Engineer at EDF Energy where he gained considerable experience in the fields of power generation and distribution.
Matt has drafted patents across a broad range of technologies, including AI, electrical devices, software, autonomous vehicles, battery tech and oil & gas for individual inventors and start-ups through to large multinational corporations. He has extensive experience prosecuting applications before the EPO and the UKIPO at all stages of proceedings from filing to grant, including assisting with oppositions and appeals at the EPO. Matt also provides advice on patent infringement and freedom to operate, and works on a growing opposition portfolio, both defensive and offensive.
Outside of work, Matt’s interests include football, snowboarding, computer gaming and investing in financial markets.
