Julie Richardson specialises in patents in the electronic engineering sector including communications technology and data and signal processing.

 

Julie joined Reddie & Grose in 1996, became a partner in 2005 and heads up the Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things technology focus group within the broader electrical, electronic and software group.

Julie’s patent practice has a particular focus on signal processing and electronics. She has extensive experience of image and data processing systems, communication systems, radar systems, semiconductor fabrication and computer implemented inventions including those at the business method/software interface. Before joining the firm, Julie briefly worked as an engineer at the UK Ministry of Defence.

Julie has a strong US client base and has particular expertise in assisting her US clients navigate through the European patent process. With a keen interest in horizontal innovation, she enjoys working cross-discipline to advise clients on UK, European and global patenting opportunities, challenges and strategies in areas which extend beyond their core technology.

In her spare time, Julie’s interests include gardening and walking with her family and dog, particularly in the Lake District fells where she grew up. She loves her Kindle but struggles to find enough time to read novels.
