The context
MAHLE GmbH is an automotive parts manufacturer based in Stuttgart, Germany and one of the largest automotive suppliers worldwide.
MAHLE Engine Systems UK Limited is its subsidiary and the inventors at the research facility in Rugby, UK frequently innovate in the area of components for automotive engines.
Our work
We draft and file UK patent applications for inventions coming out of the research facility and work closely with MAHLE’s in-house team to capture information from the inventors and prepare patent specifications. It is a crowded technical field and often there is prior art both from MAHLE and a number of its key competitors to navigate. In some cases we file strategically to limit the freedom of the company’s main competitors in a particular field. We are supporting MAHLE with prosecution of its UK applications. We also provide training to MAHLE’s inventors to help them to appreciate when inventions might arise and the importance of engaging with the in house patent team and providing the information needed for new filings.
