Julie joined the firm in 1996 and the partnership in 2005.
Beforehand, Julie was employed as an engineer by the Ministry of Defence in their Engineering Services Department, during which time she completed short courses in air and land system capability and technology at RAF Cranwell and Shrivenham. She then attended Strathclyde University where she was awarded a PhD for her research on system identification.
Julie's patent practice focuses on electronics; she has extensive experience of radar systems, communication systems, image and data processing systems and text entry/retrieval systems. She also undertakes general electrical work, including power networks, and mechanical work, including luggage and fixings.
In her spare time, Julie's interests include fell walking, reading and gardening.

- BSc (Hons) degree in engineering, Durham University
- Doctorate in system identification with radar and sonar applications, Strathclyde University
