The Firm’s partners are all Chartered Patent Attorneys (CPA) and European Patent Attorneys (EPA), entitled to represent our clients before the United Kingdom and European Patent Offices. Those who specialise in trade marks are qualified as Trade Mark Attorneys (TMA) and Professional Representatives before the Community Trade Mark Office (OHIM).
We pride ourselves on listening, so that the advice we give is suited to individual clients – we do not believe that ‘one size fits all’ and we are constantly seeking to ensure our systems are flexible and efficient.
The firm was established in 1907 and has existed under its present name since 1928. We now act for clients from many countries around the world in IP matters of all kinds, including patents, trade marks, designs and plant varieties. Where necessary, we work closely with members of the other legal professions, both solicitors and barristers, so that we can provide not only assistance in prosecuting applications, but also the expertise necessary to conduct litigation before the courts.
We have a tradition of active involvement in professional bodies and government committees concerned with intellectual property, in the United Kingdom and internationally.

We consider education to be of great importance. As well as the practical training we provide our own technical assistants, we have contributed to the educational activities of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, and to courses in the field of intellectual property run by Queen Mary College (London University) and CEIPI, in Strasbourg The firm consistently polls in the ranks of the top tiers of any industry tables including the Managing Intellectual Property Survey and The Legal 500.
