Alan joined the the firm in January 2002 with a background in metallurgy and materials engineering. Before he gained a doctorate for research relating to electron beam welded pipelines, Alan completed a Masters Degree in engineering. This included periods of industrial experience in the fields of metallic coatings and welding technology. Alan has gained experience over a wide range of subject areas. Patent cases he has been involved with have ranged from better wasp traps and more user-friendly monitoring devices, to smaller combinatorial chemistry substrates and more efficient electrochemical processes. Alan has also advised on design protection. Outside of work, he's a keen sportsman, especially when it comes to cricket. Memberships - The Chartered Institute of Patent Agents (CIPA)
